May 12, 2009 La Vergne, Tennessee - Quality Industries, a precision sheet metal fabrication and assembly company in La Vergne, Tennessee, received PACCAR’s highest supplier quality recognition for 2008. PACCAR is a global technology leader in the design, production, and customer support of premium light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates. Each year, PACCAR awards those companies whose quality performance achieves 50 Parts per Million (PPM) defective or less with the presentation of the 50 PPM Recognition Certificate. PACCAR Director of Material/Purchasing Logistics Ann Garrett presented QI President & CEO Jeff Mayfield with the certificate at an awards ceremony with many of their 257 employees in attendance on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Of the 60 companies that comprise the fabrication supply base to PACCAR, only 4 suppliers received this recognition. In 2008, Quality Industries shipped over 1,161,000 parts with only 28 parts rejected for a year ending PPM level of 24, less than half the PACCAR goal.
Not only a supplier in the large truck market, Quality Industries supplies products to manufacturers of appliances, electrical enclosures, engineered aluminum structures, and has its own proprietary line of food service equipment. QI has recently entered the solar energy market, partnering with a manufacturer in California in the production of single axis, photovoltaic solar power installations.
